FAQ

We want your experience in our clinic as seamless and convenient as possible so we will do our best to answer your questions here prior to booking an appointment.

  • Is the clinic still implementing Covid-19 precautions?
Yes. According to the CDC and CA state guidelines all healthcare facilities still have to implement use of masks in the facilities. I will continue to allow 20 mins interval between appointments to ensure adequate time to clean thoroughly between clients.
  • Do I need a PT referral to receive services?
In California, patients are able to be evaluated and treated by a licensed physical therapist without first obtaining a physician’s referral under legislation called Direct Access. This immediate access to therapeutic care leads to a much higher rate of success in a timely manner for the individuals seeking services. If interventions are required longer than 45 days or 10 treatment session (whichever comes first), a physician referral will be required to continue PT care.
  • Which insurance coverage do you accept?
KCG Physical Therapy and Wellness Services is not contracted with any commercial insurance provider. However, with the SuperBill (treatment codes) we provide, you may request reimbursement from your insurance company. Services provided may also qualify as medical expense that can be paid through Flexible Spending Plans or Healthcare Savings. Please check with your insurance provider or employer regarding details of your Healthcare Savings plan.
  • What should I expect on my first visit?
On your first visit, your physical therapist will perform an evaluation including an extensive history, physical exam, and objective testing and measuring. Intake paper work will be sent electronically and we recommend you fill those out promptly so the physical therapist can review the forms prior to your visit. Following the evaluation, your physical therapist will determine a physical therapy diagnosis (different from the medical diagnosis) and a treatment plan. In conjunction with the patient, goals are set to address the deficits identified and ways to improve function.
  • What should I wear?
In general, wear comfortable clothing to physical therapy. If you are presenting with a problem of your cervical spine, upper back or shoulders, the therapist can provide you with a gown as needed to expose these areas for treatment. If you are coming for a lower extremity problem, shorts are important. You can bring whatever you like to wear with you if you need to change here.
  • What treatments will I receive?
The treatment you receive in physical therapy will depend upon what the physical therapist finds in the evaluation. Our treatment programs are mechanically oriented with a non-dependent therapeutic approach. We emphasize mobilization, self-treatment, and therapeutic exercise to go right to the structure and resolve the problem.
  • When is the best time to start Physical Therapy?
In general starting physical therapy should be done as early as possible. Initiating physical therapy early on will reduce the overall treatment time that you will require by not allowing the problem to become chronic. If you are in pain and or you are in an acute state, your program will be modified according to your signs and symptoms. What is done for you in physical therapy depends on the clinical stage you are presently in, not just the diagnosis. Therefore, your care will be modified according to the signs and symptoms during the acute, subacute, and chronic phases of your problem.
  • What do I do if I am interested in Pilates for Wellness?
Contact the office and we can set up an Initial Fitness screening to determine the best Pilates program for you. As Pilates becomes a more popular exercise choice, it is important to consider precautions and contraindications that might be necessary for certain patient populations, i.e. Osteoporosis, Inversion precautions. We offer one-on-one Pilates sessions or we can refer you to a reputable Pilates studio in the area that offers group classes.
